References and New Data

367,670 sources from 1,633 new references including:
  • 75,805 satellites and background galaxies with spectroscopic redshifts from The SAGA Survey. III. A Census of 101 Satellite Systems around Milky Way-mass Galaxies (Mao et al., 2024ApJ...976..117M).
  • 8,192 galaxies and redshifts from WFC3 Infrared Spectroscopic Parallel (WISP) survey: photometric and emission-line data release (Battisti et al., 2024MNRAS.530..894B).
  • 4,250 sources from eUDS: the SRG/eROSITA X-ray survey of the UKIDSS Ultra Deep Survey field. Catalogue of sources (Krivonos et al., 2024MNRAS.528.1264K).
  • 2,713 sources with spectroscopic redshifts from JADES Data Release 3: NIRSpec/Microshutter Assembly Spectroscopy for 4000 Galaxies in the GOODS Fields (D'Eugenio et al., 2025ApJS..277....4D)
  • 2,311 sources and redshifts from A Nonparametric Morphological Analysis of Ha Emission in Bright Dwarfs Using the Merian Survey (Mintz et al., 2024ApJ...974..273M).

Cross-IDs and New Objects

  • 315,785 sources from the literature cross-matched with NED objects.
  • 51,885 new NED objects including galaxies, quasars, clusters of galaxies, supernovae, globular clusters as well as unidentified radio, visual, infrared, X-ray, and gamma-ray sources.
  • 840 of the ingested sources are Supernovae from the Transient Name Server through August 2025.

Redshifts

  • 281,057 additional redshifts
  • 103,988 more objects with redshifts

Database Restructuring and Software Updates

  • The next phase in the evolution of NED's data system has been completed, including updates to the database structure, query software, and user interface.
  • The Object Type field in NED contained a mixture of physical object types (e.g., G, GPair, QSO) and regions of the EM spectrum in which sources were detected (e.g., VisS, XrayS). These are now separated into Physical Types, where available, and a new EM Region field that lists all detection regions.
